The fries come well-seasoned but with a slightly greasy finish according to some, while the fish batter is consistently crisp and flavorsome. Dips like Heinz Tartar Sauce and Garlic & Herb add a tasty touch. Alongside the food, the restaurant offers a selection of cold drinks including Ribena, cans, and bottled waters, enhancing the meal experience. Despite busy times and parking challenges typical of London high streets, Mother Hubbards remains a beloved local spot for those craving authentic fish and chips in a clean, welcoming atmosphere.

Visited Mother Hubbard’s Gants Hill and tried the Super Jumbo Fish & Chips. The portion size was impressive — easily enough to share between three people. The food tasted fresh, and the batter was nice and crispy. However, the fish didn’t seem to be Cod, which was a bit disappointing given the premium pricing. The chips had a slightly greasy taste and feel, though still enjoyable overall. There’s definitely room for improvement, but the meal was satisfying and worth a try if you’re after a generous portion and classic fish & chips experience. Was a half an hour wait for the food.
